The neighborhood where the studio is located is called "de Oranjewijk".
The streets have names of members of the royal family of the kingdom of The Netherlands. The broad canal and the houses where realized between 1890 and
1910 and are directly connected to the center of the city. The houses have
some fame because of their architectural design and the variation within de
neoclassical style elements. The houses on the Emmakade ("Emma Quay") have a
beautifull view over the Canal. Especially the house where the studio is
located has a very wide view over the water and the caracteristic
cargo-vessels and sailing ships. Most of the ships serve as a floating
house, some of the sailing ships leave the canal in the summer as part of
the Bruine Vloot ("Brown Fleet"). These beautifull ships, mostly with big
brown sails, saill with groups of people on the Waddenzee and the IJsselmeer.
Others leave the canal in the weekends and find themself a place in the
pittoresque frisian Lake district.
